A Dress with an Identity Crisis
The second of the knit fabrics I purchased at JoAnn's was this sueded teal fabric, which didn't actually have much stretch. I envisioned it as being a racer-back maxi dress, so I traced off a RTW tank that I liked the shape of and made up a wearable muslin of just the tank part, which came out pretty well.
I then got started on the dress, which was the tank plus several feet. Unfortunately, once I got going and had it mostly sewn up, I realized I hated it and it felt like a nightgown. So I hacked it off, and added a waistband, and voila, a maxi skirt! I really like the addition of the side slits, as they help the maxi not overwhelm my stubby little body.
