A Walk on the Wild Side - 10/7/14

Still playing catch-up here - this was Tuesday's outfit.  This includes another element that I've slowly been warming up to - animal print.  I definitely prefer it in small doses or a much more stylized version, like my skirt here, but it adds a little pizzazz, I think.  I also really love the style of the jacket, as the waist seam hits me in a very flattering place.  I have a list of proportions I'm trying to work towards, and shirts/jackets with a waist like this is definitely on it - it was a good purchase!  Another thing to note - I did not wear any make-up that day, and I look horrible (these were the two best pictures, the rest I looked like I had black eyes or something).  It may be that I don't sleep a lot lately, but I think I at least need tinted moisturizer or something.

What I wore:
  • black tank top
  • ivory short-sleeved jacket
  • cheetah pencil skirt
  • tall flat black boots
  • gold hoops
  • black/gold watch
Where I went:
  • work
How I felt:
  • aside from the make-up, I felt a perfect level of dressiness for my new office
What would have made it better:
  • The main thing is definitely the make-up situation, but I also felt the outfit was a bit bottom heavy.  This was primarily due to the short-sleeve jacket paired with black tights and tall boots.  I should have at least worn shoes instead of boots, or maybe boots without the tights, but next time I will make sure the proportions are a little better.  Overall I did really like it though and felt very comfortable and confident.

Proportions can be so hard to get right.

May I suggest . . . try the skirt with black (top, tights, boots) OR with white (white jacket over black tank, sheer hose or bare legs, black shoes). Let either the black or the white dominate the look.

That's a great suggestion to just do one or the other - it just feels off a bit to mix them as I did.
